How Masonry Estimating Works

1

Architectural Drawing Review

You submit your architectural elevations, floor plans, wall sections, masonry details, and specifications so our team can identify every masonry system on the project.

2

Unit Count & Coursing

We perform coursing calculations for CMU and brick, counting units by wall type and deducting for all openings — doors, windows, louvers, and penetrations.

3

Mortar & Accessory Calc

Mortar, grout, lintels, reinforcement, wall ties, and accessories are quantified from the structural masonry details and specification requirements.

4

Deliver Report

Your complete masonry estimate is delivered within 24–48 hours, organized by wall type and elevation in a clear Excel format ready for pricing.

FAQs

Have questions about our masonry estimating service? Contact our team and we will explain exactly how the process works for your project type.

Contact Us

How do you count CMU blocks?

We calculate CMU quantities using coursing tables based on block size and wall height, then deduct for all openings. We account for corner blocks, bond beams, and any special units called out in the drawings.

Do you include mortar in masonry estimates?

Yes. Mortar quantities are calculated based on joint size, unit dimensions, and wall area. We also quantify grout for grouted cells and bond beams separately from face mortar.

Can you estimate stone veneer?

Yes. We estimate both natural and manufactured stone veneer by area, accounting for waste factors, corner pieces, and sill/cap units. We also include the scratch coat, setting mortar, and grout quantities.

Do you cover reinforced masonry?

Yes. We quantify both horizontal joint reinforcement (ladder or truss type) and vertical rebar in reinforced CMU walls. Bar size, spacing, and total footage are included in the rebar summary.

What about masonry opening details?

All door, window, and louver openings are deducted from gross wall area. We also identify and quantify lintels — precast, steel, or CMU bond beam — and any special jamb or sill conditions shown in the details.
